To prepare for the Confirmation Retreat we ask that you write a letter expressing your love and support to your child. A Palanca Letter is a letter of encouragement. Palanca is a Greek word meaning “wedge”, a wedge to open the door of love more easily. This is a wonderful opportunity to put into words your feelings for your child, your hopes, dreams, love and pride. These letters are personal and will only be read by your child. Please, do not tell your son/daughter about this part of the retreat, it is a surprise! We also encourage you to invite other family members to write a letter; sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, grandparents, Godparents and Sponsor; whomever you feel will make your son/daughter feel special and loved.
Please deliver all letters in ONE sealed envelope clearly marked with your child’s FIRST and LAST name and the word “Palanca” on the bottom right of the envelope to the Faith Formation Office or Main Parish Office (both located in the same building).
