Our Confirmation Prep Program is designed to deepen each of our teen's personal relationship with Jesus Christ, in order to help them be truly ready to receive the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Ours is a combined program for both St. Mary and St. Joseph parishes.

Our program (Called To Mercy) is a hybrid program as our Grade 8 students will be experiencing a one-year preparation program culminating with the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Fall of 2026.

Incoming Grade 7 will begin the new 2-year preparation program culminating with Confirmation being celebrated in the Fall of 2027.

Grade 8 must complete all paperwork by the designated deadline before they can be considered for Confirmation.  This will include a Sponsor Form, Saint Form, Height form and completed Retreat Permission Form, as well as a sign-up for one Service date.  More information on the selections will be emailed to your homes.

Grade 8 mark your calendars!  All Grade 8 students will attend a required Confirmation Retreat.  The scheduled date is Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 10:30-5:00 PM, located in Our Lady's Hall.

For both Grade 7 & 8 families, the online preparation work is monitored and completion of work is necessary to remain in the program.  The Chapter must be prepared for before their scheduled class in order to be prepared for a class discussion.
Also please be present at a Confirmation Parent-only informational meeting on Tuesday, September 9 from 7:00-8:00 PM inside St. Joseph Church.

Grade 8 - Please see the 'Confirmation Service' tab with choices for service, required for Confirmation.  First-come-first-served, as each option has limited space.

Please refer to your grade-level schedule for more details on class dates and other requirements for your calendars!

We are here to guide you through this busy year and help keep your organized, so please feel free to contact the Faith Formation office at 781-679-5859 with any questions your may have.  May God bless you all!

    Called to Mercy Program
    • "Called to Mercy"  Overview & log In

This is our second year using 'Called to Mercy' by Saint Mary Press for Confirmation Preparation. We feel this will best prepare the students to receive Confirmation within 2 years.

There is work on each candidate's part that is absolutely necessary to be prepared for their 'class discussions' and to be eligible to be Confirmed. Your child's progress is monitored by our office to ensure they are staying current with their lessons and to ensure accountability. The preparation for the class in done ahead of time so they can participate in the class discussion.  This is an electronic program that your child will access through the log-in process and follow the prompts.

The eLearning portion of the program is very flexible and manageable to work within our busy lives!

‘Called to Mercy’ provides a 30-minute engaging eLearning lesson that prepares the student ahead of time for their next class. You can access the eLearning lesson from any device that connects to the internet!

Please access your grade-level Syllabus to keep your child on track by clicking below:

Please note that Grade 8 has 'youth events' they are required to attend as part of the Confirmation Preparation Process. Those dates are clearly marked on their grade-level schedules. Click for the Grade 8 schedule with youth dates below:

If you were in our program previously, the sign-in process and credentials are the same for your child this year.  If you need a review of how to access or if you are new to our program, please read below:

    Selecting a Saint
    • How to Select a Saint

Following are some sites where you can access information about a variety of Saints. Try researching several before choosing the one whose name you would like to take. How to choose one: he/she stands for something you believe in; he/she is the patron/ess of something you are interested in; his/her name is the name of a loved one, etc…

    Selecting a Sponsor
    • How to select your confirmation sponsor

      CONFIRMATION SPONSOR

      • Each candidate should have their own individual sponsor.
      • The candidate may choose one of their Godparents. This shows the ties between Baptism and Confirmation.
      • The sponsor should be someone the candidate sees as a positive Catholic role model in their life.
      • The parent of the candidate is NOT permitted to be the sponsor.
      QUALIFICATIONS OF THE SPONSOR
      • Must be sufficiently mature in his/her faith commitment.
      • A sponsor can be of either gender.
      • The person chosen must have the intention of performing their role; assume an ongoing spiritual relationship with the candidate and not merely a function as a passive witness to the sacrament.
      • Sponsor must be a fully initiated Catholic, having received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.
      • Sponsors are to be active members of a Catholic Church.
      A SPONSOR IS
      • A representative of the Catholic Community: The sponsor is the personal representative of the entire Church Community to the individual candidate.
      • A Companion: A sponsor should serve as a companion or a guide for the candidate along the journey.
      • The sponsor should be someone who can give you the support when there is hesitation, understanding in times of doubt and comfort when there is inner conflict. This person should also challenge you when your enthusiasm or interest is at a low point. This companion should be someone you can trust, turn to and talk things over with.
      • A Mentor: A sponsor should be someone who is open to growth in one's faith and putting into practice what the faith requires. This person should be a faith example who you look up to and would like to emulate.
      THE ROLE OF THE SPONSOR
      • Assist in the preparation of the Sacrament.
      • Accompany the candidate and present him/her to the bishop.
      • Help the candidate fulfill his/her baptismal promises faithfully by growing in a faith relationship with the candidate.
SPONSORS ARE ENCOURAGED TO BECOME INVOLVED WITH THE CANDIDATE BY:
      • Deepening their faith relationship with the candidate during the time of preparation for Confirmation.
      • Attending Mass as often as possible with the candidate.
      • Participating in a service project with the candidate if possible.
      • Continuing to be a source of encouragement and guidance for the candidate after receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.
      TRAITS OF A SPONSOR
      • A sponsor prays.
      • A sponsor participates in the Liturgy.
      • A sponsor listens.
      • A sponsor is respectful.
      • A sponsor serves as a bridge, helping the candidate understand and become familiar with the people, places and traditions of the Catholic faith the candidate is unfamiliar with.
      • A sponsor respects the candidate's freedom, allowing the candidate to decide whether this is the right time to seek the Sacrament of Confirmation.
      • A sponsor lives in a world of hope, feeling confident in being able to live their faith in the modern world.
